Newborn/Postpartum Care

I provide continuous care and support for mom and baby after birth for up to 2 months.  This includes 24/7 availability via phone for questions and concerns, as well as the visits outlined below.

Home Visit 24-36 hours after birth (1-2 hrs)

• Newborn Screening and Birth Certificate registration
• Full physical assessments of mother and baby
• Hemoglobin check on mother
• Discuss the birth and address all questions and concerns
• Breastfeeding education and emotional support

 Home Visit 5-7 days after birth (1-2 hrs)

• Jaundice check on baby with remedies if needed
• Mother and baby check
• Breastfeeding suggestions, and answer any questions 

 Home Visit 10-14 days after birth (1 hour)

• Mother and baby check
• Address how parents are adapting as well as any concerns
• Set up appointment for Newborn hearing screening
• Breastfeeding Support
• Nutritional Support

Final Exam at office 6-8 weeks postpartum

• Mother and baby exam
• Assessment of baby's growth since birth
• Address birth control concerns
• Address how parents are adapting to their new life with an infant
• Discuss the whole birth experience with the parents including what they loved about it and what they would do differently (if anything) next time
